Six generations of family winemakers dating back to Thomas Hardy in 1853 – renowned father of the South Australian wine industry. One of Australia’s oldest and most well-known wine brand. The Hardys wine brands are headed by Thomas Hardy Cabernet Sauvignon, Eileen Hardy Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz; then the Sir James range of sparkling wines; next the HRB wines, the William Hardy quartet; then the expanded Oomoo range and the Nottage Hill wines. The ‘Big Company’ slur is ill deserved – these are some of Australia’s greatest wines.
“The palate has all the classic varietal expressions of Hardys 1853 Cabernet Sauvignon: structured tannins, chewy texture and the concentrated flavours. On the other hand, all these powerful elements balanced with the refreshing acidity and the cooling menthol taste. The tannins that on the palate but became velvety. A pure and clean finish. Hardys 1853 exceeds my expectations and is quite competitive against other wines in a similar peer group.” – Gus Jian Zhu MW

The bouquet provides a perfect idea of what is about to follow on the full-bodied palate: towering blackcurrant fruit with bay leaf, black olive and earth all dripping from the fruit where they meet implacable tannins and a poultice of French oak.
94 points Huan Hooke – The Real Review
Still very youthful deep garnet in colour. Reams of blackberry fruit with a lifted red fruit edge. Deeper coffee/mocha with earthy elements, plenty of mint and a touch of meaty complexity. Lean and tight fruit profile with round, cotton wool mouth-filling tannins and an echo of milk chocolate oak.
